![]() ![]() ![]() SimCity 4 has a single expansion pack called Rush Hour which adds features to the game. ![]() It is the fourth major installment in the SimCity series. Prohibit terraforming in certain special zones, such as the Aurora, etc.SimCity 4 is a city-building simulation computer game developed by Maxis, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts. If this effector is removed, the terrain changes go away. Effectors could use special tech that only allows a limited number (5-10) of them to exist at a time. Require building a (very expensive) effector which allows the player to modify terrain in a particular area. titanium) when creating and/or destroying terrain Limit changes to a certain depth (~20m?) below/above the (original) sea floor To further limit its use, implement one or more of the following: Even at 10000 changes (which 99% of players will never reach), you would never exceed 200KB of save game data related to terrain changes. Beyond this, inform the player that previous terrain changes may be lost if they continue. Only allow a certain number of changes to be "saved". When a player makes a change, save that "delta" only. Always presume this is the case, even if that map changes due to an update. The game already has a base map of terrain. Whether its for technical reasons, or asthetic/gameplay reasons, those can all be fixed by tweaking, rather than ripping it out of the game. I would hope that this would also significantly decrease the memory footprint because the save file wouldn't have to keep track of new voxels, instead only having to keep track of where the old ones have been moved to. This would preserve the ability make small adjustments to the terrain to fit base pieces while at the same time eliminating the ability to completely destroy terrain or build wholly new features. My thinking here would be to adjust its function so that instead of wholesale scooping and depositing of terrain like a magic backhoe, it functions much more like the raise / lower terrain tools from the older sim-city games, where it only moves the terrain, and even then, only to a certain degree. On the other hand, maybe there is some middle ground that might leave it in the game, but cause its impact on memory and game progression to be much less. you should never cut features out of a PC game so that it can fit on a console IMO), then it needs to go. Though I would be sad to see it go completely, if it needs to go for real performance reasons (size of the saved game for steam users being the most valid reason I can accept. It would seem that its use causes perfomance and save game issues that are a problem even for the PC and not just the XB1. That said, I found the tweet by Charlie Cleveland regarding the terraformer, and after reading it, I can understand the reasoning for removing it. For bases, this won't actually hurt me much as I already go to great lengths to avoid my base pieces interfering with the terrain, but I can see how this will cause problems for some people, especially those who like to build bases on the islands or in caves. My assumption would be that if they are removing terraforming, it will be entirely, so no base pieces excavating the terrain, and probably not even the "dig sand" command anymore. ![]() ![]() I found this strategy worked all the way to Fort Laramie, where I had to drop the pace to steady, and rations to filling, because I wanted to get the maximum health bonus at the end. If food was full, and health 'fair' or worse, then I'd drop the pace to Strenuous and rations to Meager. If food was full, and health was 'good', then I'd proceed at full pace. Also I only used hunting instead of rest (you rest 1 day while hunting anyways). This time I started early, in March, to compensate for extra hunting time. Pace at grueling and rations at bare bones again. So I started the same way as before with the same loadout. Not bad, but I want to get Trail Guide and see if I can break 8000 points! Score including the 3x multiplier for being a farmer was 3855. I still beat the game easily, but 2 of my party died and the rest were at poor health. The problem is I had to rest too often and I hit winter, slowing my pace to a crawl because health was always poor. I'd rest any time health was 'poor' and hunt any time food went below 500 lbs. I set the pace to grueling and rations to bare bones and trekked on the whole game at that pace. I hunted until I had 1200 lbs food (2000 is the max). I purchased 3 yokes, 14 sets of clothes, 0 food ($ / lb ratio of food is too high at the store), 20 boxes of bullets, and 2 spares of every part. My first time I just wanted to 'beat' it, but I wanted some challenge so I picked the farmer. I realized that I never beat the game so I set out to do it just now. >!insert spoiler here!< Other subreddits you might like: some Mod posts Serious posts Megathread Breaking news Unfilter Please use spoiler tags to hide spoilers. ![]() This could also be another way to earn recourses at a faster rate. I feel like this would urge people to upgrade their bases as soon as possible, instead of just every here and then like me and a few other people I know. I love the idea of building your base and defending it from zombies, but I kinda wish there was more in that section like an online PvP mode where you can raid other peoples bases, or be the zombies and attack someone’s base. Your armory can hold four crates and open one at a time, crates take about 3 hours to open but give decent rewards. The missions are short but fun, and reward an ok amount of loot. I’ve been playing this game for a while now, and the gameplay is absolutely great! So many weapons to choose from and UI (user interface) is pretty good, standard AC-130 white and black camera, circling above your ground squad, would definitely recommend for people with time on their hands. ![]() The library for Revit would be a mix of data, 2D, 3D and RPC: You have to start with a good planting database, and Keyscape already have one of those. Here’s our very short summary of what we’d like to see in ‘Keyscape Designer for Revit’: As we said in the TL DR, we need better hardscape tools, better softscape tools and we’d love an integrated Plants database. Keysoft have an open goal in front of them, to plug a gap in the landscape BIM market. We’d be lost without RTV Xporter for instance. We’re happy to pay for Revit extensions where they offer genuine improvements in functionality. How could LANDCADD or Keyscape for Revit help? A typical Revit planting schedule with live data from the planting areas in the model For those, we use a version of Lauren Schmidt’s hack, which you can find over at LandarchBIM. Planting beds with mixed plants, which aren’t actually modelled are harder. Fences, bollards, benches and anything tangible is also very easy. Modelling trees in Revit, at least as lollipops, is simple. Civils design such as road modelling is a nightmare, but at least Autodesk have solutions which are slowly becoming compatible with a Revit workflow, i.e. Revit makes some things easy, and some things very hard. So if we’re doing Landscape in Revit, how do we do it currently? We’d end up duplicating half of the design. How on earth could we separate out the ‘landscape’ and do it in AutoCAD? Even with something like Keyscape Design Studio, AutoCAD just doesn’t make sense. Our landscape appointment was for the hardscape (the paving), the planting design, the tree specification and the ecology. For the project above, we as architects designed the site layout, the split level pond, the deck, the car parks, the cycle paths, the fences, the bollards and even the concept for the public art. ![]() It’s hard to define where architecture stops and landscape starts. A recent project where we did both the architecture and the landscape The workflow is terrible though, because at the moment you pretty much have to hack Revit to do Landscape. In fact we already do our Landscape in Revit too. We’re a multi-disciplinary practice doing architecture + landscape and we already use Revit. The answer to this is easy: Revit is the No.1 BIM platform by a long way. Let’s just get the obvious question out of the way – why Revit? Keysoft have now merged Keyscape with LandCADD to become ‘Keyscape LandCADD’, but it’s AutoCAD only, and they have ‘no plans’ to bring it to Revit.Ĭheck out CS Artisan RV instead, for a Revit-based landscape application. Revit needs some Softscape tools, some Hardscape tools, and every Landscape designer needs a great Plants Database! UPDATE, June 2016: They responded by asking what we’d like to see in any future Revit version, so this post is our manifesto. We reached out to the new owners to ask about future Revit integration, and got a positive response. LANDCADD is a landscape software package largely based around AutoCAD, but which also (until recently) had some limited Revit integration. ![]() We learned recently that UK-based Keysoft Solutions has purchased LANDCADD from developer Eagle Point.
